Yellowstone Star Kelsey Asbille Reveals One Of Her Favorite Moments On The Show

Yellowstone doesn’t make it easy for its characters to find love and this includes Kelsey Asbille, who plays Kayce’s (Luke Grimes) wife, Monica Dutton. Their relationship began by keeping their distance from Kayce’s dad, John Dutton. However, as they get drawn into the drama at the Yellowstone Ranch, Monica and Kayce have suffered separation and lost a child. Moreover, they were both almost killed after Garrett Randal (Will Patton) carried out an assassination attempt on the Dutton family.

Kelsey Asbille’s favorite moments from Yellowstone

When it comes to Yellowstone relationships, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) first come to mind. However, the relationship between Kayce and Monica is right there at the heart of the modern Western series. In fact, they are the most independent couple on the ranch. They have their own family to deal with, in their son Tate Dutton (Brecken Merrill).

Recently, Kelsey opened up in an interview about the tension between her character, Monica, and Kayce. She revealed that one major fight between the pair stands out as one of her favorite moments from Yellowstone.

Kelsey and Luke have fun with fight scenes

Back when Kelsey Asbille was promoting season 4 of the hit modern Western series, she revealed that the fights between her character and Kayce are a lot of fun. During season 4, Kayce and Monica have an explosive fight where she tells him that she hates him. This came as Monica was still recovering from being attacked. That was one of the many fights between the pair in the course of the series.

In November 2021, Kelsey told JoBlo, “They’re fiercely protective of each other, and they want to do everything right, and sometimes you’ve gotta [sic] fight,” adding:

Luke and I had so much fun doing that scene of just, like – there are some things they got to say to each other, and it’s about time.

Turning point in Kayce and Monica’s relationship

Meanwhile, in an interview with TV Line in November 2021, Grimes described the “I hate you” moment as a turning point in the couple’s marriage. Luke said:

Playing that in that moment, I felt maybe he felt like he was becoming more like the parts of his father that he doesn’t like or he saw that he was falling in line with the attitude of that place, and I think it scared him.
