Two words: Hair flip! Turning to Instagram, The Bold And The Beautiful star Denise Richards just delighted her followers with a photo of her famous hair flip scene from the NBC sitcom Friends. Richards also included a video showing her flipping her perfect hair. The scene comes from a 2001 episode of the sitcom, according to Heavy.
But rather than take all the credit, the Bold And The Beautiful star named her hairstylist, Chris McMillan, as the one who crafted her famous hairstyle. Does his name sound familiar? McMillan also created Friends star Jennifer Aniston’s iconic hairdos.
“Before the Dyson Airwrap, there was [Chris McMillan],” wrote the Bold And The Beautiful star in her Instagram caption. And fans went wild for that hair flip. For instance, one commented, “This scene is the equivalent to Joey’s ‘how you doing’ line but for a woman… irresistible!” And another theorized that Denise’s beauty sparked jealousy from her Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills (RHOBH) costars.
For example, one follower shared, “This is why all the hags on RHOBH were so jealous of Denise. She’s a total sex pot. They can’t handle it.” And another commented, “This why the women were so mean to you on RHOBH, jealousy.” One even recalled how RHOBH star Kyle Richards once referred to Denise’s style as “ragamuffin.” And the fan wrote, “Most beautiful ‘ragamuffin’ EVER!”
Denise Richards’ Daughter Sami Sheen Praises Mom’s Friends Role
But while fans flocked to Instagram, the Bold And The Beautiful star shared the surprising praise she received from her daughter Sami Sheen. And it happened years after Denise starred in that season 7 Friends episode. Titled “The One With Ross and Monica’s Cousin,” the episode featured Richards, then age 30, portraying Cassie Geller, the cousin of David Schwimmer and Courteney Cox’s characters.
But the scene that got fans so delighted took place when Cassie let her hair bun fall loose. And she flipped and whipped her hair to the Barry White song “I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little Bit More, Baby.” However, that hair bun drop turned into a scene that behaved like a love potion on all the male Friends characters.
And years later, with Friends still in syndication, new fans have discovered that hair flip. As a result, the Bold And The Beautiful star’s “bun dropping” hair plan even became a social media trend. And Denise revealed that her daughter Sami felt thrilled to discover the trend. “My daughter told me the scene in this show where my hair goes down and all that became viral on TikTok,” shared Richards. And she joked, “My daughter was like so excited. I could do anything in the world. But the fact that it was on TikTok and went viral [meant] I was the coolest mom.”
