Tulsa King spoilers and updates tease that snagged the lead role in Taylor Sheridan’s new highly anticipated smash hit. Sylvester ‘Sly’ Stallone’s western roots run deep, actually all the way back to 1976 when he was praised by western royalty.

Tulsa King Spoilers – The Duke

Rocky, the boxing film written and starring Sylvester Stallone was released in 1976 and became the highest-grossing movie that year earning an unbelievable $117 million at the box office. Nominated for 10 Academy Awards and winning three, best picture is one of them, which made Sly an overnight success and a true star. Sly admits that when he was at the award show, he was praised by “western royalty,” John Wayne, nicknamed The Duke who is an icon by starring in films made in Hollywood’s Golden Age, especially in western and war movies. Sly was feeling kind of awkward at the awards event, he really didn’t know anybody, and overcomes The Duke, “I’d like to introduce myself. My name is John Wayne.” Sly said, “I recognized you, slightly.” The Duke was so humble and continued, “Welcome to the industry. I saw your film, and you were very good.” Sly admits that meeting The Duke for the very first time, took his breath away and gave him comfort knowing that everything was going to be ok that night, he sat back and relaxed.

Tulsa King Updates – Sly’s Cowboy Boots Fit Just Right

The Tulsa King focuses on the lead character played by Sylvester ‘Sly’ Stallone, Dwight “The General” Manfredi who after spending 25 years in prison and survives by keeping his mouth shut after taking the fall for his mafioso boss, is exiled to Tulsa Oklahoma, which Sky says is like a “mobster in cowboy boots.” While in Oklahoma, much like his character, Sly put on new cowboy boots, these were custom-made Roy Rogers boots, and they looked really sweet on the Rocky Balboa star. Sly has a great sense of humor and fans of his will get to see a lot of that in Tulsa King. When asked by CBS why he never did a western before, Sly laughs and says “look at me.”

Sheridan’s Yellowstone season 5 premieres on Sunday, November 13th as a lead into his new series, Tulsa King which showcases an all-star cast lead by Sylvester ‘Sly’ Stallone.
