Tulsa King Review: Sylvester ‘Sly’ Stallone Lives Out His Fantasy

Tulsa King spoilers and updates tease that the highly anticipated premiere of Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King is mere hours away and fans are filled with excitement since this new show is expected to be a smash hit.

Unbelievably, it has been 15 years since The Sopranos ended on HBO, which is part of the reason why gangster fans are so excited about the new series.

Tulsa King Spoilers – Sylvester ‘Sly’ Stallone’s Fantasy

Tulsa King will be Sly’s first role on television, an original for him. At the New York premiere of Tulsa King, he said, “when it comes knocking on your door, you have to be a fool to say no,” and admitted that this is more of a fantasy role for him, “the idea of taking him out of New York, so he’s not like a Tony Soprano, he’s completely in an alien world. He might as well have been walking around on the moon.”

Tulsa King also mixes a dash of The Sopranos into Tulsa King with co-showrunner, Terrance Winter, who was writer and producer of the former gangster series and said that he believes that Stallone is playing a version of himself in this new series.

Tulsa King Updates – Episode 1 & 2

Episode 1 is titled, “Go West, Old Man,” and will be our into Sly taking on Dwight “The General” Manfredi, “Dwight, blindsided by the news that his mob family has nothing left for him to New York, is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma; as he settles in and surveys his new surroundings, Dwight wastes no time making new associates.” This is where fans will get to meet Tyson (Jay Will) hat agrees to drive him wherever he needs to go. And his first place of business? A local dispensary. Then on to building a crew amongst an unlikely group of characters.

Episode 2, is titled, “Centre of the Universe,” and now that Dwight has found a comfortable pair of cowboy boots, “Dwight, Tyson, and Bodhi go on a road trip to take care of some business; Stacy does some digging into Dwight’s past.”

There is so much promise with Tulsa King, in fact, it has already been renewed for a second season and the first one hasn’t even aired yet.

Stallone promises a lot with this new role and it looks like he is going definitely deliver. The Golden Globe winner was very excited about his new project during the NY premiere and has this to say, “I’ve always wanted to play a gangster. Not a cowboy, not an Indian, [but] a gangster. Don’t ask me why, but there’s a romanticism about these kinds of characters.”

Tulsa King premiered on Sunday, November 13th on Paramount Plus, 9:00 pm ET.
