While fans still have some time to wait for season 2 of Yellowjackets, it is coming at some stage next year. Meanwhile, Christina Ricci, who plays the adult version of Misty, has spoken up about season 2 and how ‘more shocking’ it will be than season 1. In fact, with her teases about the new season, fans will be on the edge of their seats.
About Yellowjackets season 2
Season 1 of Yellowjackets shocked fans to the core – and they loved it. Moreover, the survival drama focuses on a high school soccer team, whose plane crashes in the wilderness during the 90s. At the same time, it also features the students’ adult life and reveals how their often gruesome past is catching up to them.
Christina Ricci, who plays the adult version of Misty, recently spoke to ET at the Los Angeles premiere of Netflix’s Wednesday. Speaking of the second season, she claims it will be “more shocking” than the first.
While she couldn’t give much in the way of spoilers, Ricci said things are about to get “even wilder” in the second season. In fact, fans can expect to see that things will be “more crazy, more shocking.” Christina said:
I can’t really get too much into detail, but I will say the first couple scripts had the entire cast gasping. So it’s even wilder.
Elijah Wood joins the cast for the second season
In other news about Yellowjackets, Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood joins in the second season and will reportedly spend quite some time with Ricci’s character, Misty. Variety reported that the Frodo Baggins actor will feature as Citizen Detective Walter, who will challenge Misty in unexpected ways.
Speaking of new cast members, Ricci said, “It’s really fun; it’s exciting. After our first season, people loved the show so they’re excited to be there and it’s really been fun.”
Christine said that not to spoil anything, a lot of her scenes for season 2 have been with Wood. She added that it is wonderful working with him again and that they’d had a great time.
When will season 2 of Yellowjackets premiere?
Currently, the premiere date for season 2 has yet to be announced. In fact, filming isn’t expected to wrap until February 2023. Speaking to The Wrap, Bart Nickerson said:
One thing about the show doing really well, that maybe I hadn’t anticipated, was how much responsibility Ashley [Lyle] and I and Jonathan and the whole team feel to earn the level of affection the audience is showing.
Nickerson added that the idea of delivering something that wasn’t as good as the first season was just too much to bear, adding:
So I said: ‘I think that we should take a little more time with this and just make sure it’s really good.’
