It was recently reported that the latest trailer for season 5 of Yellowstone broke streaming records by attracting more than 14 million views. Taylor Sheridan and the cast of the modern Western hit show have been carefully laying the foundations for an explosive fifth season. However, some fans take things the wrong way. When Yellowstone shared a video clip on Instagram, with a moving Beth and Rip moment, they threatened to drop the show.
Tension builds for season 5 of Yellowstone
We already know that season 5 of Yellowstone will feature intense drama when it returns on Paramount Network on November 13. Even so, fans are convinced that the writers will spoil the relationship between newlyweds, Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser). Last they knew, the couple tied the knot, so why do they think things are already going wrong?
Recently, a short clip was posted to the official Yellowstone Instagram page, featuring Beth and Rip. In the clip, the iconic pair is discussing birthdays. However, the caption to the post reads:
Celebrating Rip Wheeler today and always. PS: Get ready, #YellowstoneTV fans. Something big is coming.
In the clip, which can be seen here, Beth and Rip speak softly to each other, while the video was intended to be a heartwarming message for season 5. However, fans’ eyes were immediately drawn to the words, “Something big is coming.” They immediately assumed the worst, namely that the newlyweds wouldn’t have the happy ending promised in season 4.
Fans react to ‘something big is coming’
One fan wrote, “idc what happens in this next season just DO NOT take rip away from Beth!” Meanwhile, another wrote, “’Something big is coming’ hmm, spoiler. Way to ruin it, he’s probably gonna die.”
Naturally, this was followed by a series of comments, with fans concerned about Beth and Rip’s future together. One upset fan wrote: “If he dies I’m breaking my screen and never watching anything from Taylor Sheridan again.” Yet another quipped: “Let’s be positive [because] if they kill him I’m done with the show.”
No plans for Rip Wheeler to leave Yellowstone, dead or alive
Meanwhile, there has been no hint that the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, will split Beth and Rip apart. Having seen the latest exciting trailer, the term “something big is coming” probably refers to the fact that John Dutton (Kevin Costner) has been sworn in as Montana’s governor.
This fact leads to John firing everyone in the governor’s office and installing his own choices, including Beth. While there is clearly deadly action coming, we feel it is unlikely that Sheridan would kill off fan-favorite Rip Wheeler right now.
For now, we’ll just have to wait until season 5 drops on Paramount with a double episode on November 13.
