Yellowstone Alum Teams Up With Kevin Costner In His New Movie Horizon

Yellowstone actor Kevin Costner has been busy with his role as John Dutton in the modern Western series. However, while it has been 20 years since Costner directed a movie, he is now working on a huge Western movie, Horizon. This is his directorial follow-up to the 2003 movie, Open Range. Recently, Kevin has revealed that he has added a Yellowstone alum to the cast of his new movie.
Kevin Costner adds Yellowstone alum Will Patton to the cast of Horizon

Fans will recall Will Patton, who enjoyed a recurring role in Yellowstone seasons 3 and 4 as Garrett Randall, Jamie Dutton’s (Wes Bentley) biological father. Now, Patton is set to join the cast of Kevin Costner’s Western movie, Horizon. According to Deadline, this will mark the fourth time Patton and Costner have worked together. They previously starred together in No Way Out (1987) and The Postman (1997) before appearing in Yellowstone.
Patton is known for his recent roles, including Deputy Frank Hawkins in Blumhouse’s Halloween movies. He has also starred as Avery Sunderland in the Swamp Thing series and currently stars as Wayne Tillerson in Amazon Prime’s Outer Range.
What role will Will Patton play in the Kevin Costner movie?

So far, no details are available as to his role in Horizon, but he has joined a number of actors that Costner will direct, and co-star with. In August, it was revealed that Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things) will star, along with Sam Worthington (Avatar) and Sienna Miller (American Sniper).
The cast of the movie will also include other well-known actors, including Isabelle Fuhrman, Jena Malone, Luke Wilson, Michael Angarano, Michael Rooker, Thomas Haden Church and more. As with Patton, none of the actors’ roles have yet been revealed.
What is the plot of Horizon?

So far, we know that Horizon tells the story of America’s expansion into the West over a 15-year period, pre- and post-American Civil War. It will reveal the people’s grueling trek through the elements, as well as their interaction with the indigenous peoples. Among them, some will take ruthless measures to be able to settle on the land.
Meanwhile, it turns out Horizon is Costner’s fourth time of directing a movie. Besides The Postman and Open Range, he also directed the 1990 movie, Dances With Wolves. Moreover, he is also producing the movie through his Territory Pictures production company. He also co-wrote the script of Horizon with Jon Baird.
When can we expect to see the movie?
Filming started on Horizon in southern Utah on August 29. Meanwhile, it is expected that production will wrap by the end of November. Moreover, Costner has revealed that Horizon is planned as four movies, in order to connect as an overarching saga. In fact, he aims to release a new Horizon movie quarterly. Meanwhile, the Yellowstone star said the project was sold as “an event television movie.”
While having to await news of the release of Costner’s movie, Horizon, fans can catch season 5 of Yellowstone on November 13.
