Yellowstone’s Kevin Costner & Walking Dead Legend Make Western Movie

The next role for Kevin Costner will draw fans of Yellowstone, along with fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead. In a separate project from the Paramount Western drama, Costner is busy working on a Western movie. Meanwhile, the new film will come from his production company Territory Picture. Yellowstone’s Kevin Costner making Western movie titled Horizon

With season 5 of Yellowstone coming in November, the star that plays John Dutton has been busy on another project. While the movie is a Western, it is his own, separate project away from the Paramount series. Meanwhile, it has recently been announced that a familiar face to The Walking Dead fans will be starring alongside Costner.

Over the past few years, Costner has starred on the small screen as the ranch owner, John Dutton, in the Paramount Network series Yellowstone. The record-breaking hit series is only a few months from the premiere of the fifth season and filming continues in Montana.

However, Costner has also been hard at work on his own Western project. Through his own production company Territory Picture, Costner will produce, direct and star in the period drama, Horizon. Meanwhile, the movie will take viewers back in time to the American Civil War era, spanning 15 years before, during and after the conflict.

The synopsis, according to Deadline reads:

Experienced through the eyes of many, the epic journey is fraught with peril and intrigue from the constant onslaught of natural elements, to the interactions with the indigenous peoples who lived on the land, and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it.

Cast of the new Western drama movie

Besides Oscar-winning Costner, other big names will also appear in the movie. The latest cast announcement revealed that one of the names is The Walking Dead legend and Guardians of the Galaxy star, Michael Rooker. Fans of the AMC horror series will remember Rooker as Merle Dixon, Daryl Dixon’s (Norman Reedus) brash and obnoxious brother.

In the latest casting news, Jena Malone (Goliath),  Alejandro Edda (Narcos: Mexico) and Tatanka Means (Reservation Dogs) will also star. Meanwhile, the actors join several big-name stars that were already confirmed, including Sienna Miller and Sam Worthington. Moreover, Jamie Campbell Bower, Luke Wilson and Thomas Haden Church are also in the cast of Costner’s new movie.

When will Horizon premiere?

As production is still in its early stages, there is no news of when Horizon will premiere in cinemas. However, Costner’s fans don’t have too long to wait to see him back on their small screens in season 5 of Yellowstone, which drops on November 13 on Paramount Network in the USA. Meanwhile, seasons 1 to 4 are available for streaming on Paramount+ in the UK right now.
