Read on to find out what we know so far about the upcoming sequel/reboot series, Wednesday, on Netflix.
Tim Burton’s new project Wednesday on Netflix
For those who haven’t experienced the Addams Family, it originally started out as a fictional family created by American cartoonist Charles Addams. Then, in 1964, the family was immortalized in the TV series, The Addams Family. The family consists of Gomez and Morticia Addams, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, Uncle Fester and Grandmama.
The show also features the family’s butler, Lurch, styled after Frankenstein’s monster. Moreover, Thing, a disembodied hand, is also featured in the popular comedy series along with Gomez’s cousin, Itt.

The family is described as an odd, wealthy aristocratic clan who dabbles in the macabre and are seemingly unaware that others find them frightening.
Fast forward to now, and Tim Burton has developed a new Netflix comedy series that follows Wednesday Addams during her high school years. According to the plot:
Wednesday attempts to master her psychic powers, stop a monstrous killing spree of the town citizens, and solve the supernatural mystery that affected her family 25 years ago.
Cast of the new comedy series

Jenny Ortega stars as the titular character, Wednesday, while Catherine Zeta-Jones plays her mother, Morticia, and Luis Guzman plays her father, Gomez. Her brother, Pugsley is played by Isaac Ordonez.
The Netflix series will also feature Gwendoline Christie and Cristina Ricci in unconfirmed roles. Meanwhile, Ricci played the role of Wednesday in two Addams Family movies from the 1990s.
Tim Burton is known for his Gothic-inspired films, including Edward Scissorhands and Corpse Bride and will direct every episode. As for the script, this will be written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville).
About Netflix’s Wednesday
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Gough said:
The relationship that kind of hangs over the season is really Wednesday’s relationship with Morticia. How do you step out of the shadow of a mother as glamorous as Morticia?
Meanwhile, the new series will be Burton’s first foray into TV and streaming. The last time he released a movie was his 2019 reimagining of Dumbo, starring Colin Farrell which received mixed reviews.
