Chrissy Metz looks back on her six seasons portraying Kate Pearson on This Is Us with love. As a result of her wonderful experience on the show, Metz admitted she knows exactly what she would like in a reboot of This Is Us. But the actress also shared some sweet insights into how she stays in touch with the cast.

This Is Us: Chrissy Metz Stays In Touch With Her Co-Stars!
After playing Kate for six seasons on This Is Us, Chrissy Metz misses her character just as much as the fans. And Chrissy told the Today show that she feels totally open to a reboot. But she also confessed that she spends much of her time staying in touch with her This Is Us co-stars.
As a result, Metz and the entire cast communicate daily. For instance, they message each other check-ins or congratulations. And the This Is Us star admitted it doesn’t take much to get a co-star such as Mandy Moore to spill.

“We text pretty much every other day, if not on the daily,” shared Chrissy. “Just checking in or congratulating somebody on something.” For example, a new project, an award, or even “a cute picture on Instagram” turns into a reason to stay in touch.
Chrissy Metz Misses Filming This Is Us
But even though the This Is Us cast tries to stay in contact, Chrissy misses her friends. “I wish that I could see everybody more often. You know, not many people are in Nashville. That’s where I’ve been posted up for a bit. So yeah, it’s really lovely to have friendships that last,” she added.

And looking back, Metz longs for all the fun that the cast experienced filming. “There was a lot of levity in between the scenes,” recalled Chrissy. “And as heavy as the show got, it was written so beautifully that we just enjoyed spending time with each other. But also pushing yourself as an actor and trying new things and literally just suiting up and showing up and hoping that it all works out.”
In particular, the This Is Us star misses two aspects of filming. First, she yearns for “that adrenaline kind of excitement.” And second, Metz misses “spending time with everybody and watching people really sort of take their performance to the next level. I mean, I definitely am a fan of every single person on the show.”

And Chrissy didn’t hold back on contributing to the This Is Us reboot rumors. But Metz envisions a very specific concept for a reboot. And the This Is Us star wants to see the future generation of the Pearson clan. As a result, some compare the concept to the Black-ish spin-off, Grown-ish.
But Chrissy does envision Kate in that reboot. And she shared a wish list for her This Is Us character in a spin-off or reboot. “Well, I hope that she’s happy,” Metz reflected. “I hope that she is continuing to work on her stuff, you know, and discarding it and uncovering it and discovering it and discarding it. And I believe that she will still be working in music in some capacity.”
However, although the This Is Us star wants a next-generation Pearson family reboot, she does not want Kate to manage her son Jack’s life. “Someone’s like, ‘Is she going to be (son) Jack’s music manager?’ I said, ‘Oh, no, no.’ That’s not going to be a good idea,” noted Chrissy. “But I do think that she would have some great ideas about bringing music to and making it accessible for everyone.”
