With just over a month to go, season 3 of Big Sky teases a new mystery, new faces and even a new name. In fact, the new name is Big Sky: Deadly Trails, which introduces some new characters and a new mystery. Meanwhile, Kylie Bunbury plays a new private detective Cassie Dewell, and Katheryn Winnick stars as Deputy Jenny Hoyt. Read on for more teasers for the third season of Big Sky.
Big Sky: Deadly Trails gets new cast members
Besides Bunbury and Winnick, Big Sky: Deadly Trails will get to see a new series regular in the form of country legend Reba McEntire. Reba is set to play Sunny Barnes, a “successful backcountry outfitter with a secret history of missing customers.”
In the new teaser released by ABC, Sunny is the narrator. This teases that Hoyt and Dewell, along with new sheriff Beau (Jensen Ackles) are heading into a world of danger. This comes as they take on their craziest case ever. Meanwhile, this comes after they have already pursued Ronald (Brian Geraghty for the last two seasons to keep Helena safe.
In the teaser, included below, Sunny welcomes a group of campers and hikers to “friendly” Montana, saying:
In the untamed wilderness, you never know what’s going to be coming around the bend.
One thing’s for certain, once you set foot in this place, you may never want to go home again… and you might not.

New cast members for season 3
The Montana town will see a number of new faces in season 3, including Lost star Henry Ian Cusack as a tech executive named Avery. Meanwhile, Blindspot star Luke Mitchell stars as Sunny’s son, Cormac. Moreover, Anirudh Pisharody (9-1-1) and Madalyn Horcher (Doom Patrol) as a young couple from New York. The pair is seeking a wilderness escape. Last, but not least, Seth Gabel (Fringe) stars as Walter, a recluse living in the woods.
Meanwhile, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and J. Anthony Pena, who play a waitress/crime syndicate player Tonyo and Deputy Poppernak, Hoyt’s right-hand man, are now series regulars
About Big Sky
Showrunner David E. Kelly (Big Little Lies) showcases Big Sky, a series about private detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt. According to People, the detectives join forces with Cody’s estranged wife and former cop, Jenny Hoyt. The first season saw two sisters, kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. They discover these aren’t the only girls that have disappeared in the area. Due to this, they need to race the clock to stop the killer before another woman is taken.
Meanwhile, the crime drama series introduces a new core mystery each season, while including previous storylines throughout. The series is based on the series of books by C.J. Box.
