Netflix: Ginny & Georgia Season 2: Release Date, What We Know So Far

The Netflix comedy/drama series Ginny & Georgia was renewed a while back, and fans have been wondering when season 2 will premiere. For those who have not yet binged Ginny & Georgia, the Netflix dramedy series features high-school student, Ginny Miller (Antonia Gentry) and her vivacious young mother, Georgia (Brianne Howey). Following the death of Ginny’s stepfather, mother and daughter relocate to a New England town.

Meanwhile, the cast also includes Diesel La Torraca, Felix Mallard, Jennifer Robertson, Sara Waisglass, Raymond Ablack and Scott Porter. Moreover, Chelsea Clark, Nathan Mitchell and Katie Douglas star in key recurring roles.

While season 1 attracted substantial viewership on the streamer, critics weren’t that impressed. Meanwhile, there was praise for the series’ black humor and multi-faceted characters. However, Georgia’s approach to motherhood didn’t impress and misogynistic comments against Taylor Swift upset critics. In fact, following that, the pop singer called out Ginny & Georgia, slamming the series for degrading women.

However, despite all that, Netflix did renew the series for a second season around a year ago. Since then, things have been quiet, at least until now.

Filming wrapped for season 2

Recently, TVLine gave an update on the production status for season 2 of Ginny & Georgia. In fact, they report that filming has wrapped for the second season and it is now waiting for a date on Netflix’s calendar to debut.While there is no official confirmation, it sounds hopeful that season 2 could premiere towards the end of 2022, or at least early 2023.

So far, details are scarce about season 2 of the comedy series. However, one bit of news is that Aaron Ashmore (Smallville) has joined the cast.

Also, season 1 ended with a cliffhanger, where Ginny takes her brother Marcus (Mallard) and flees the house in fear of her mom. This came after she realized that Georgia had poisoned her ex-husband after he sexually abused Ginny.

Season 2 of the Netflix dramedy is likely to pick up from where the cliffhanger left off. It is possible that this is where Ashmore’s character, Gil Timmins comes in. He is Georgia’s ex and Marcus’ father, so Ginny might take shelter with him.

However, another theory is that Gil might add to the troubles for the mother and daughter duo. Meanwhile, nothing has yet been confirmed and Netflix is keeping the plot of season 2 tightly under wraps until the premiere.

As mentioned, as filming is complete, it is possible that season 2 will premiere towards the end of 2022. If it doesn’t, fans can expect new episodes in early 2023.
