Bridgerton spoilers and updates tease that Netflix’s Bridgerton is getting a prequel. But it won’t air on the streaming service but will be released in the form of a book. The upcoming prequel book will focus on Queen Charlotte.
The literary adaptation is set to accompany the prequel show, which is also underway. The “collaborative novel” will be written by Julia Quinn, who’s the author of the original Bridgerton romance novel series, and Shonda Rhimes.
The book will focus on the story of Queen Charlotte and her marriage to King George. It’ll feature their love story and how she caused a societal shift during her reign.
Rhimes and Quinn Talk About Bridgerton
“Queen Charlotte has been such a moving character to write and now having the opportunity to work with Julia to adapt this story into a book is such an exciting opportunity. I can’t wait for fans of this universe to read the story of a character that has resonated so deeply with our audience.” Rhimes said.
As for Quinn, she said she was fascinated when Bridgerton was taken from book to screen. She’s also excited to embark on a new direction. This time, she’ll be working with Shonda Rhimes in writing the new novel.
Quinn added that Queen Charlotte was not part of the original novels. She commended Golda Rosheuvel’s impeccable performance. She believes that fans will love to get to know her majesty on a deeper level. The prequel book will be published under William Morrow Group at HarperCollins, Avon Books.
