Fans will remember that following the popular sitcom, Cheers, Kelsey Grammer reprised his role in his own sitcom, Frasier. That sitcom became highly popular and also starred David Hyde Pierce as Frasier’s brother and John Mahoney as their dad. Sadly, Mahoney is no longer with us, but Kelsey has now teased a filming date for the Frasier revival. Read on to find out more about the hopefully upcoming revival and watch the interview below.

Kelsey Grammer teases filming date for Frasier revival

Rumors have been rampant for some time about a possible revival of Kelsey Grammer’s sitcom, Frasier. Now, it is starting to look like a revival is likely to happen. However, it won’t necessarily be exactly the same but most familiar cast members will star.

Grammer was interviewed on The Talk and spoke about the Frasier revival. In fact, he mentioned that the script for the first episode is in its final stages. He went on to hint that plans are to start filming in October this year, or maybe a little later. Meanwhile, the project has been in the works for more than a year and almost nothing is known about the revival. Readers can watch the interview here:

It is also unclear which cast members will star in the Frasier revival, as sadly, John Mahoney is no longer with us. Moreover, the sitcom’s canine star, Moose, who played Eddie, is also no more. Meanwhile, Jane Leeves is now a regular on The Resident, meaning she might not have the time. However, David Hyde Pierce did speak about the project with Vulture last month.

As noted by Matt & Jess, Hyde Pierce talked about the writing of the shows and the actors he got to work with, saying that this is all “deeply important” to him. He said he would never disrespect that in such a way as to say offhandedly, “Oh, no, thanks. I’m not going to do that again.” He said he wouldn’t do the show, just to do it. In fact, he believes the Frasier revival can be done without him.

David explained that they didn’t bring along the Cheers gang to make a new series, although they did pop in from time to time. Because the show was so important to him, Hyde Pierce said it needs to be said in a different way, adding:

And maybe they will find that and I’ll be in it, or maybe they’ll find it and they won’t need me to be in it.

Will Frasier air on Paramount+?

So far, the plan seems to show the revival airing on Paramount+, but it is still too early to say. Readers, what do you think? Are you excited about a possible revival of Frasier? Let us know by dropping a comment below.
