Outlander Execs Welcome the Actors

In an interview with Deadline, Matthew B. Roberts, Outlander’s showrunner, executive producer, and writer was excited to welcome both actors to the show. He’s excited for fans to see these actors bringing their characters to life.

Meikle-Small and Phillips join other cast members including Caitríona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, and Bell. Charles Vandervaart also joined the show as William Ransom, Jamie Fraser’s son. Executive producer Maril Davis said that finding the perfect actor who can play the role was a daunting task but they were able to do so when Vandervaart auditioned for the role. They are excited to see what the actor will bring to the character’s journey.

They started filming the seventh season in Scotland in late March 2022. Outlander season 7 is expected to have 16 episodes. The upcoming season is bigger than season 6 and is the biggest since season 1, which also had 16 episodes, and was split into two parts and aired from 2014-2015.

Maril Davis, Outlander’s boss, addressed questions as to when the next episodes would premiere.

“I actually don’t know! I haven’t been told when we will be airing season seven, all I know is we are in the beginning of shooting it now, and that’s all I can say. I think we are on a fairly typical schedule but it is a supersized season,” she said.
