The good news is out in the Game of Thrones universe as Kit Harington is set to reprise his role as Jon Snow in an upcoming spinoff. The spinoff is currently still in development by HBO, but according to several sources, Kit Harington will be back in the iconic role. Read on to find out what we know so far about the long-awaited return of Jon Snow.
Game of Thrones Spinoff to feature Kit Harington
Since the ultra-popular HBO show Game of Thrones aired its last episode, fans have been champing at the bit for more. In the meanwhile, HBO has explored a number of prequel spinoff series, with various degrees of success. However, the network will be releasing House of the Dragon in August this year. Meanwhile, this show is a prequel, taking place 200 years before the events of the original HBO series.
Now HBO is looking at a spinoff sequel to Game of Thrones, featuring Kit Harington in his iconic role as Jon Snow. As noted by Deadline, this series will be set after the events of the finale, staging the possibility of cameos from several of the more popular characters who survived the end of GoT.
Moreover, this will be the first spinoff series set in the Game of Thrones universe to take place following the events of the GoT series finale. However, the whole idea of featuring the more popular characters sounds like a good one indeed.
Kit Harington and Game of Thrones
During his appearance on HBO’s Game of Thrones, Kit Harington was nominated for two Emmys. These included Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2017 and Outstanding Lead Actor in 2019.
Following the finale episode of GoT, Harington went on to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Moreover, he starred in last year’s The Eternals in the role of Dane Whitman, AKA Black Knight.
ET interviewed Harington in December last year while promoting his new rom-com series, Modern Love. In the interview, he mentioned that he is often referred to as Jon Snow and felt a little type-cast. However, he has now come to terms with that, and he says it makes him “proud” despite the fact that he initially struggled with it.
Kit said there was a part of him that fought against that for some time. However, the process, since GoT ended, has been about “being proud of the job we did, being proud of that show, proud of the character I created and owning it.” He also realized that when it comes up in every interview, that is a good thing.
