The upcoming season 4 of the HBO hit series True Detective is coming and looks to be one of the most exciting yet. Titled True Detective: Night Country, the fourth season stars Jodie Foster as Detective Liz Danvers, in what is her first major TV role in decades. Jodie Foster stars in True Detective: Night Country
One major reason for looking forward to season 4 of True Detective is the fact that Jodie Foster will star. In fact, we haven’t seen her in a major television role for decades, but now she is back with a vengeance. We are, already wondering if her performance could be comparable to that opposite Anthony Hopkins in the 1991 movie, The Silence of the Lambs.
Foster plays the role of Detective Liz Danvers in a story set in Ennis, Alaska. Meanwhile, the plot revolves around six men at the Tsalal Arctic Research Station who disappear during a long Arctic night.
The setting alone will make this quite a difficult mystery to solve. However, Foster’s character is one of two characters trying to figure out the mystery. The other character is Evangeline Navarro, a role that is yet to be cast. Meanwhile, Jodie will also be executive directing the series.

While so far, only the lead character has been named, some fans might be hoping for a Silence of the Lambs reunion for Foster. Just imagine Anthony Hopkins as a star of the HBO show, especially after having watched him in Westworld.
Meanwhile, it is known that Issa López (Tigers Are Not Afraid) and Alan Page Arriaga (Fear the Walking Dead) are penning the series. According to Cinema Blend, Nic Pizzolatto will remain credited as an executive producer on season 4, which is currently under development.
Other than that, we know HBO often has long development cycles and no matter how impatient we get, they will make us wait. This is especially so after fans were so disappointed by the lackluster season 2 of the show.
Hopefully, True Detective: Night Country will premiere on HBO somewhere around the summer or fall of 2023.
