The Resident on Fox will see the return of actress Emily VanCamp who was once a series regular on the show. VanCamp, who played Nurse Nic Nevan, left the show last season so that she could dedicate more time to her family after giving birth to her first child.
In The Resident’s storyline, Nic Nevan was killed in a car crash, leaving behind her love Conrad (Matt Czuchry) and their baby GiGi. The series then made a time jump ahead by five years to Conrad still working as a doctor at Chastain Hospital while raising the couple’s daughter on his own.
Conrad Will Attempt To Move On
This season, The Resident fans have seen Conrad finally start to open up more and consider letting someone in again following Nic’s death, contemplating the next steps in his life. Conrad has become close with both Billie (Jessica Lucas) and Cade (Kaley Ronayne) and in episode 23 of season 5, he will be faced with the fact that it is time for him to move on.
Of course, moving on will have Conrad reflecting back on his time with Nic, specifically a night they spent together after the birth of their child. Emily VanCamp will return in the season finale in a number of flashbacks. Her appearance will hopefully push Conrad forward so he can move on.
The Resident’s EP Teases What Fans Can Expect To See
Executive producer Peter Elkoff spoke about Conrad’s storyline recently and what fans will see in the season 5 finale. “He hasn’t been able to make a move and find that next love. He knows that he’s still stuck in the past, in a way, with Nic.”
Elkoff went on to add, “He keeps going back to pieces of that night [with Nic], because he thinks the answer of how he moves on is in that night… and he gets an answer, a realization that frees him in a certain way.”
Be sure and catch The Resident on Tuesday, May 17, on FOX and return here often for more spoilers, news, and updates.
