It’s almost time to take another trip around the galaxy with the crew of the USS Orville under a new title, The Orville: New Horizons. Meanwhile, the sci-fi comedy, inspired by Star Trek, is in a new home and features some new guest stars. Read on to find out more about season 3 of the Seth MacFarlane sci-fi comedy/drama series.

The Orville: New Horizons comes to Hulu for season 3

Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville debuted on Fox in 2017 and went on to enjoy two seasons. However, after not being back since April 2019, the sci-fi comedy/drama is finally coming back in a new home. In fact, it will return on Hulu with a brand new title, The Orville: New Horizons. Despite the change, as MacFarlane is involved, the show is likely to deliver what fans have come to expect.

As noted by Collider, The Orville: New Horizons is set to make its debut on Hulu in the US on June 2. It is planned to release episodes on a weekly basis on the streamer. Moreover, those in the UK, Ireland and Canada will also be able to watch the debut on Disney Plus, with the same weekly schedule.

Of interest to note, while MacFarlane is known for his comedy work with Family Guy, the trailer for The Orville: New Horizons reveals another side to the creator. While there will be comedic moments, the new version of the series will also reveal some drama from MacFarlane’s character.

Plot and cast of the reimagined Hulu series

According to the official synopsis, The Orville: New Horizons is set 400 years in the future. Here, the crew of the USS Orville continues its mission of exploration. Along the way, they navigate the mysteries of the universe along with the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.

Besides being the creator of the series, Seth MacFarlane also stars as Captain Ed Mercer on the USS Orville. Joining him is Adrianne Palicki (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Friday Night Lights) as Commander Kelly Grayson. Meanwhile, Penny Johnson Jerald (24, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as Dr. Claire Finn along with Scott Grimes (Justified, Mystery, Alaska) as Lt. Gordon Malloy.

Peter Macon (Bosch, Shameless) plays Lt. Cmdr. Bortus, while J. Lee (American Dad) stars as Lt. Cmdr. John LaMarr and Mark Jackson (The Royal Today) is Isaac. Meanwhile, Chad L. Coleman (The Walking Dead, The Wire) plays Kyden, Jessica Szohr (Ted 2, Shameless) and Anne Winters (13 Reasons Why plays Ensign Charly Burke.

As can be seen in the trailer, a couple of guest stars for The Orville: New Horizons will include Ted Danson as Admiral Perry and Victor Garber as Admiral Halsey.
