The Blacklist is saying goodbye to two regulars on the show, Amir Arison one of the drama’s longest-serving cast members, and Laura Sohn.

Arison, who has portrayed Aram Mojtabai for nine seasons of The Blacklist is departing the drama series for Broadway debuting this summer in the starring role of Amir in The Kite Runner. Continue reading and we’ll tell you the rest of the story.

Also departing the beloved NBC drama is Laura Sohn who is known for her portrayal of FBI Agent Alina Park for the last three seasons of The Blacklist per TV Insider. This all comes just a year after the departure of Megan Boone who portrayed Liz Keen.

In a statement to Deadline, Amir said, “I have been so honored to play Aram Mojtabai for 9 years on The Blacklist.” He continued, “It is not lost on me how lucky I am to have been able to work and evolve with a role for 9 years with this extraordinary cast, crew, writers, and producers.

I could not pass up the opportunity, however, to fulfill a childhood dream of being on Broadway playing ‘Amir’ in The Kite Runner with a stage adaptation that is both breathtaking and timely.”

The Blacklist Amir Arison is Leaving but the Door Stays Open

Amir has been a regular fixture on The Blacklist since the second season. He iterated that, though his character has been removed from the lineup, the season finale will not be his final episode.

Executive producer and showrunner John Eisendrath confirmed as much in his statement which read, “We wish [Arison] well and hope he can return to reprise the role for some very special episodes next year.”

“Story-wise, it feels so organic with the events of this past season to take this step, and I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome,” Arison concluded, while his character Aram told the task force that he planned to “take some time away,” and even referenced what the actor would be doing while away, saying he might take in a Broadway show.

There Will be a Season 10 Of The Blacklist

The ninth season of The Blacklist jumped forward three years following Liz’s death. According to TV Insider, it was James Spader, who portrays Raymond Reddington, who announced in February on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, that the series would be returning for a 10th season.
