After four thrilling seasons of Ozark, the Jason Bateman lead Netflix show has come to an end. Sad to see the show go, fans want to know if this is the end or will we see an Ozark spin off in the future? Could another show be in the works to share the fate of Jonah Byrd in the lead?
Spoiler Alert! Ozark Characters Killed Off In Finale
Some fans are excited at the possibility while others feel like there is no point since the death of Julia Garner who played Ruth Langmore, the manipulative criminal counterpart turned enemy to the Byrd family. In the show, Ruth meets her demise when she is shot dead by Camila (Veronica Falcón) while the Byrd family gets away. While it is thought that they get away as the show ends after what appears to be a scene showcasing Jonah shooting private investigator Mel Sattem (Adam Rothenberg).
In addition, a number of other deaths also went down as series regulars Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery), Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan), and Sheriff John Nix (Robert C. Trevelier) were also killed on Ozark. The series ending does allow for show runners to continue the story of the criminal family of Marty, Wendy, Charlotte and Jonah since all four survived.
Show Runner Teases Possible Ozark Spin-Off
Executive producer Chris Mundy recently spoke out about the future of a potential Ozark spin-off. “It’s definitely something that people have talked about a bunch … There’s nothing definitive. We’re lucky that people seem to really like the show so there’s obviously going to be some interest there … There are still ways to stay inside the show and revisit things. I’m sure people probably would’ve been happier if Ruth was out there.”
It looks as if for now show runners aren’t ruling out the possibility of a future spin-off with nothing officially in the works.
