Dylan O’Brien is happy about his time spent with the “Teen Wolf” family, but he would rather cherish the great memories than make new ones. Sorry Wolfheads, O’Brien’s sitting this one out.
However, he will be cheering on the series revival, as the movie is “extremely dear” to him.
Dylan O’Brien Calls Filming “Teen Wolf” “The First Thing I Ever Did”
We’ve gotten used to Dylan O’Brien’s Stiles’ funny and normal guy charm since the show debuted in 2011. He was more than just a sidekick to Tyler Posey’s Scott, he was one of the most relatable characters on the show.
“Teen Wolf” ran from June 5, 2011 to September 24, 2017, producing six seasons and around 100 episodes. The supernatural teen drama revolves around Scott McCall, who was turned into a werewolf through a bite as a teenager, and alongside his friend Stiles, protects his California town of Beacon Hill against supernatural threats.
The “Maze Runner” star recently opened up about why fans will have to do without Stiles Stilinski in the Teen Wolf’s upcoming revival.
“It was a difficult decision. A lot went into it. The show couldn’t be more dear to me. It was the first thing I ever did and so many people there are extremely dear to me. It was something I was trying to make work but it all happened very fast,” O’Brien, 30, told Variety of his decision not to return to the MTV series.
“We didn’t really know that it was happening and they kind of just threw it at us a little bit, which is fine because we all love the show,” the Maze Runner star added. “We were trying to figure it out.”
He added, “Ultimately, I just decided it was left in a really good place for me and I still want to leave it there.”
“I wish them well and I’m going to watch it the first night it comes out,” O’Brien said. “I hope it f—ing kicks ass, but I’m not going to be in it.”
What We Know So Far About “Teen Wolf’s” Revival
The American supernatural drama series was loosely based on the 1985 movie of the same name.
An official description of the movie reads, “A full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes and every other shapeshifter in the night.”
“But only a Werewolf like Scott McCall, no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced,” the description adds.
In February, Paramount+ released the names of the original stars who will be reprising their roles: Posey, 30, plus Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig, Crystal Reed, Orny Adams, Linden Ashby, J.R. Bourne, Seth Gilliam, Colton Haynes, Ryan Kelley, Melissa Ponzio and Dylan Sprayberry.
