Whether it is about leprechauns, Irish immigrants or Ireland marriage proposals, there are some interesting movies to choose from.


Leprechaun is a 1993 horror comedy movie that is the 1st is a series of 7 movies in the franchise, followed by Leprechaun 2 in 1994, Leprechaun 3 in 1995, Leprechaun 4: In Space in 1997, Leprechaun in the Hood in 2000, Leprechaun: Back 2 the Hood in 2003 and Leprechaun: Origins in 2014. The movie focuses on The Leprechaun, who is out for revenge against the O’Grady family, whom he thinks stole of pot of gold. Leprechaun stars Warwick Davis as The Leprechaun.


Brooklyn is a 2015 romantic drama movie that is based on the 2009 book of the same name by Colm Toibin. The movie is set in the early 1950’s and focuses on Ellis Lacey, a young woman living in Ireland, who immigrates to Brooklyn, New York, where she falls in love with Tony Fiorello, an Italian plumber. Brooklyn stars Saoirse Ronan as Ellis and Emory Cohen as Tony.

Leap Year

Leap Year is a 2010 romantic comedy movie. It tells the story of Anna Brady, a real estate stager and Jeremy Sloane, her cardiologist boyfriend. After waiting for 4 years for Jeremy to propose to her, Anna takes matters into her own hands to traveling to Dublin, where Jeremy is at a conference, to propose to him on Leap Day. Leap Year stars Amy Adams as Anna and Adam Scott as Jeremy.

Far and Away

Far and Away is a 1992 romantic adventure drama movie. The movie takes place in 1892 in Ireland and tells the tale of Joseph Donnelly and Shannon Christie, who immigrate to America in search of free land. They take part in the 1893 Land Run in Oklahoma Territory. Far and Away stars Tom Cruise as Joseph and Nicole Kidman as Shannon.

The Secret of Kells

The Secret of Kells is a 2009 animated fantasy movie. Brendan is a young boy living in the Monastery of Kells, a tightly knit community. Soon, he becomes an apprentice for Brother Aidan, a master illuminator, who created the Book of Iona, which is said to turn darkness into light. The Secret of Kells stars Evan McGuire as Brendan and Mick Lally as Brother Aidan.
