Sex In Your 40’s – Menopause Doesn’t Have To Wreak Havoc #AchieveComfort
If you are a woman over the age of 40– then chances are menopause has hit you like a ton of bricks and has caused quite a damper on life as you know it. I really never paid that much attention to menopause in the past. To be honest, the only thing I knew about menopause was that it made my mother really hot and cranky. Now, that I am experiencing it firsthand, I can totally understand why she was so cranky!
Mood swings and hot flashes are symptoms commonly associated with menopause, but the taboo topic that seems to be left out of a lot of conversations is that vaginal dryness that comes along with it. To be honest, I was relieved when I started getting closer to menopause and could say goodbye to my monthly friend – and live a period-free life. Boy, was I misinformed! I would rather get my period twice a month than deal with the vaginal dryness I have been recently cursed with.
Not only has vaginal dryness from menopause made my life miserable the past few weeks, it has also made my husband miserable. Nobody wants to have sex when their vagina feels like the Sahara Desert. But like every male out there, my husband doesn’t seem to understand that and is taking my reluctance in the bedroom personally.
After another sleepless night, I got up bright and early and decided that enough was enough. I was tired of being uncomfortable, and even more tired of the lack of intimacy in the bedroom. And, especially tired of how cranky my husband had become. I called my gynecologist and braced myself for the awkward and embarrassing conversation I was dreading – and the even more embarrassing trip to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for “down there.” But, to my surprise, she giggled a little and then told me I didn’t need a prescription. All I had to do was go to any drugstore, grocery store, maybe even a convenient store and pick up a bottle of K-Y Brand Lubricant – and good news for my husband, it was safe to use on a regular basis!
Later that day I headed to the pharmacy and checked out the aisle of the drugstore I always avoided. To my surprise, there were so many different kinds of K-Y products. I finally settled on a bottle of K-Y Jelly and a bottle of K-Y Liquid and rushed home to give it a whirl. I’m not going to get into the dirty details, but let’s just say that K-Y Jelly rejuvenated my marriage in the bedroom – and finally helped my husband and I achieve the intimacy and emotional closeness we once shared before menopause put a damper on our relationship.
K-Y products have become a household brand over the years, and I would have been miserable without them. They provide discreet, long-lasting relief from the discomfort of vaginal dryness during sex-when you need it. Menopause is no walk in the park, but K-Y has definitely made it more bearable. If you are a woman struggling with menopause and vaginal dryness, you should have a stockpile in your bedroom nightstand. Once you get comfortable with the K-Y Jelly and are feeling adventurous, you can always try K-Y Sensual Silk or the K-Y Warming Jelly. All of their products are a lifesaver if you are struggling with dryness, and K-Y is the number one brand trusted by couples and professionals.
Menopause doesn’t have to wreak havoc on your sex life or cause sex in your 40’s to be un-enjoyable. I just wished I had known about K-Y sooner!

This is good to know. I will be that age someday 🙂
Not near that point yet but I am dreading it, I hear the hot flashes are INSANE! I know some women are prescribed estrogen supplements, but I don’t know if those pills also help for ‘dryness’.
I’m not to that stage in my life yet, but it’s not super far off. I’m glad to know that I’ll have something to help me be intimate with my husband if I need it.
Menopause can wreak havoc on so many body systems. Glad you found a solution for one of them.
This is important information for many women. I’m finishing up my 30’s now (38) so this will be here before I know it.
Being in my 40’s myself, this is something that I dread coming! It’s good to know that there are products out there to help for when the times does come!
What an important topic to discuss. Menopause doesn’t sound comfortable at all when I read about it, but sounds like there is relief and help. So happy for that!
I am not near that point but I wish that I wasn’t allergic to KY for when the time comes.
I’m not in that stage in my life yet but it’s great to know there’ a product like K-Y lubricant that can help with this important feminine concern.
Even if it’s not an age issue, there can be a timing issue w/ couples. We are tired, busy parents who often have limited time to be intimate.
I’ll be 41 on Friday and thankfully I haven’t hit this part of life yet. I’m hopeful I will be like my mother and not have a whole lot of problems.
Oh, I will keep this post handy in case I have my menopausal stage. I will also share this with my mom.
Wow so I just turned 30 and now I am scared for my 40s. I had no idea it gets that dry down there I will be honest that is scaring me. I heard the opposite though I thought women get super sexual in their 40s.
I believe I’ll have to come down to that realization at some point. Posts like this, even for products such as this K-Y lubricant, brings reassurance and a feeling of comfort for those who dread the days.
This is great, who knew that as you got older things like this happened. Now I know!
I’m not anywhere near that yet but I have a close friend who had quite the rough time with it. It’s definitely hard to go through.
I had an emergency hysterectomy. They said if I quit taking the hormones I’d go into instant menopause. I quit taking the pills, and I haven’t yet and I’m glad. 😉
I’m really glad there are things like this that can help when you reach that point in life. Those changing hormones play havoc!
I will tell about this to my mom. I think she is getting the big “M”.
