World’s Largest Ball of Twine

Located in Cawker City, Kansas, was actually built by one person, Francis A. Johnson. He started the ball of twine in his basement in 1953 and worked on it for the next 29 years until he passed away in 1974. The twine ball now weighs 17,400 pounds and measures 40 feet in diameter since people have been adding to it since his death in an annual Twineathon held every August.

Lucy the Elephant

Located in Margate City, New Jersey, will stop you dead in your tracks if you don’t know it’s there. Lucy is a 65 foot tall wooden elephant that was built in 1881. A real estate developer built this elephant exhibit in order to draw in the attention of land buyers. In the past, Lucy has been used for an array of purposes including a tavern, hotel, private mansion and beach cottage. Now, it is just a place for visitors to climb inside and take a tour.

The Longaberger Company

Located in Newark, Ohio, is the largest basket-shaped building in the world. It starts at the bottom measuring 192 feet by 126 feet and expands to the top to measure 208 feet by 142 feet. The building serves as the corporate headquarters of the Longaberger Basket Company and is seven stories and shaped like an actual basket.

World’s Largest Pistachio

Located in Alamogordo, New Mexico, this 30 foot realistic pistachio is used to get visitors to visit the McGinn’s Pistachio Tree Ranch and Arena Blanca Winery. The man-made work of art was constructed with more than 5 yards of concrete and 35 gallons of paint.

The Largest Burger in the World

Located in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, the Beer Barrel Belly Buster is an actual burger that is made from 10 pounds of beef, 25 slices of cheese, an entire head of lettuce, three tomatoes, two onions, loads of pickles along with mayonnaise. This burger can be found at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub, which has been featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show, The Travel Channel and The Food Network.
