Chocolate Vanilla Buttercream Flower Bouquet Cupcake Recipe For Mother's DayLooking for something special to make for Mom on Mother’s Day? These easy-to-make Chocolate Vanilla Buttercream Flower Bouquet Cupcakes are the perfect treat for Mom.  The best thing about these yummy cupcakes is they are super easy to make.

My mom is a huge fan of Buttercream frosting she says it reminds her of her childhood and the frosting her Mom use to make.  So these cupcakes are the perfect gift for her special day.

How To Make The Cupcakes

Ingredients:

1 box of Ghirardelli double chocolate cake mix
3 eggs
1/2 C oil
1 C water
(measurements for the eggs, oil, and water will change based on which brand of cake mix you purchase)
floral cupcake liners
cupcake pan

Directions for cupcakes:

  • Preheat oven to 350 and line cupcake pan with the liners
  • In a medium bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, oil, and water and mix until combined
  • Using a medium ice cream scoop, scoop the batter into the cupcake liners and fill about 3/4 of the way full
  • Bake in the oven for about 21 minutes
  • Pull out and place on the side to cool

Vanilla Buttercream Recipe

Ingredients:

1 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
2 1/2 C powder sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3-5 TBSP heavy whipping cream
3 drops of leaf green coloring
1 bowl
medium star tip and pastry bag

Leaf tip number 113

disposable pastry bag

floral royal icing transfers from Michaels

Directions:

  • Using a standing mixer, combine all ingredients except the food coloring into the bowl and mix on medium speed
  • If your frosting starts looking like powdery rocks, add another tablespoon of heavy whipping cream
  • Mix until you see creamy stiffed peaks
  • Separate the frosting into two bowls
  • Add the green food coloring into one bowl, leaving the other white
  • Scoop the white frosting into the star tip piping bag
  • Scoop the green frosting into the other tip bag
  • Pipe on the white frosting and place a few royal icing flowers onto it
  • Using the green frosting, pipe on some leafs next to the flowers

Makes 24 cupcakes
