If you find yourself struggling to attain that perfect balance of both your professional and your personal lives, you’re not alone. Everyone wants to find themselves at the crossroads of happy and content, satisfied at work and home, but is that intersection really a modern myth?
It is if we think about the work/life balance as a state to attain, a place to land and then live in happily ever after. Life is dynamic, and no two days are alike. But if we think of balance as a static condition, we’re missing the point: life is a balancing act, something we have to work at continually.
Instead of approaching the life/work balance as a onetime accomplishment, think of it as an ongoing evaluation of what’s most important to you.

Need a few suggestions to get you started on a more balanced, manageable 2017? You’re in luck, we’ve got a few ideas to help make your journey into the New Year a smooth one!
First of all, be realistic. Think of balancing your time in manageable chunks. No one can, “do it all.” If you assume that you can, you’re setting yourself up for failure.
Make a list of your daily or weekly priorities and act accordingly, recognizing that a change in plans is inevitable. If you have a list, you’ll be able to refocus more quickly, avoiding time lost on insignificant activities (and people).
Always be good to yourself! Are you a caretaker? There’s nothing wrong with getting enjoyment from helping others, but you won’t be much help to others, or yourself, if you’re not functioning at 100%. Remember to get enough sleep, eat right, and spend enough time doing the things that make you happy.
