Traditional Cranberry Sauce Thanksgiving Recipe – Quick And Easy!

Traditional Cranberry Sauce Thanksgiving Recipe – Quick And Easy!

Cranberry sauce is an integral part of any traditional Thanksgiving dinner. But, somewhere along the way – it became a jiggly can of red jello. Don’t get us wrong, that jiggly can of cranberry sauce is pretty tasty, but it usually don’t even contain real cranberries, and certainly isn’t a sauce.

Traditional Thanksgivings are all the rage the last few years. Families are getting back to the basics – and it doesn’t get any more delicious than a dish of REAL cranberry sauce to dip your turkey in and swirl in your mashed potatoes. After all, Thanksgiving is the one time out of the year that it is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged to mix all of the food on your plate into one big, delicious mess.

For some reason, cranberry sauce has gotten a bad rap over the years – and home chefs think of it as a difficult dish to prepare, but it’s actually rather simple, and probably much easier than you think. If you are looking to get back to basics this Thanksgiving and want to serve REAL cranberry sauce, all you will need is a bag of fresh cranberries and a few spices and sugar!

Ingredients

12 oz. Bag Frozen Cranberries [or Fresh]
Lemon Zest
Sugar
Salt & Pepper

Directions

Pour half of the bag of cranberries into a saucepan, add 1 cup of sugar, and a strip or two of lemon zest. Stir the contents until the sugar dissolves. Crank up the heat and continues stirring until the cranberries burst. Then, turn the heat down to low and stir in the remainder of the bag of cranberries until it is well blended and you reach your desired consistency. Remove from heat, add salt and pepper to taste, and serve! The nice things about this recipe is that you can always tweak it or add other ingredients or spices.
